On April 1, 2026, the Las Vegas City Council voted unanimously to approve Sunridge on Searles our 50-home casita community in East Las Vegas and the first Boxabl community approved anywhere in Nevada. FOX5’s coverage highlighted rents planned at roughly $900–$1,000 a month including utilities, aimed at seniors and residents priced out of today’s market. As Gary Gumm told FOX5, we’ve seen this model all along as “one particular solution to a big problem with affordable housing.” The story also traces the project’s journey: after an initial Planning Commission recommendation against it, we spent months refining the design with city staff and Councilwoman Olivia Díaz’s office and the final vote was 7-0.
